Giving Back

At the end of each month 10% of profits will be donated. This will be evenly split between the NICU at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Toronto where our first son spent the first 10 days of his life, Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital, Belleville General Hospital where our second son will soon be born and The Grace Shelter Inn in Belleville, ON, providing shelter to those in need in our community.

My Story

Growing up, Nelda was always interested in working with her hands. She loved to sew, creating garments without patterns or instructions, and creating beaded and wire jewellery. Later, she became fascinated with the scrap metal in her father's mechanic shop, and began creating unique, mixed-metal sculptures.

Nelda attended the International Academy of Design and Technology in Toronto, specialising in Fashion Design. She then lived in London, England for two years, studying sculpture at The Art Academy and working as a freelance costume designer for film and music videos. She sold a line of mixed metal and leather jewellery at a weekend stall in the Brick Lane Market.

In Toronto, Nelda followed her interest in metalsmithing with classes at The Devil's Workshop, and designed the house line at a Queen Street boutique. She later pursued a Fundamental Jewellery Skills certificate at George Brown College.

Nelda hopes to create works that are inspired by both classic design fundamentals and sculptural design. The line, "Thusnelda Florence", refers to her own first and middle name, and represents the interplay between the unusual and the classic.
